50 YEARS OF THE MONKEES Download, And An Apology To Monkees Fans

As some of you know, our weekly show This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio with Dana & Carl celebrated The Monkees' 50th anniversary this week with a special show we cleverly dubbed 50 YEARS OF THE MONKEES! Dana and I are enthusiastic fans of The Monkees, and have been for years. So we put everything we had into this Silver Anniversary Monkees party, and I think we did pretty well.

Still, we want to apologize to you.

Why are we sorry? Because a razzafrazzin' three-hour show ain't long enough to celebrate The Monkees' 50th anniversary! We tried--oh Lord, we tried!--but we didn't have time to play "Love Is Only Sleeping," or "Goin' Down," or "Birth Of An Accidental Hipster," or "Daily Nightly," or "Someday Man," or "Circle Sky," or "Steam Engine," or "Love To Love," or "Nine Times Blue," or "Terrifying," or "Star Collector," or...aw, you get the idea. Man, the only version of "All Of Your Toys" we played was the master backing track, which we used as our closing instrumental. We didn't have time for the 1968 live-in-Japan "D.W. Washburn," either!

However, we're comforted by the knowledge that we did succeed in paying a sincere and engaging tribute to Micky, Davy, Peter, and Michael. We play The Monkees most weeks anyway, so whatever we missed this time will likely be heard in future shows. We're sorry; but we're not ashamed. You can read the playlist here: http://carlcafarelli.blogspot.com/2016/09/this-is-rock-n-roll-radio-840-50-years.html. More importantly, you can download the show and listen to it again 'n' againhttp://westcottradio.org/archive/rock_n_roll_radio_2016-09-11.mp3 50 years of The Monkees? We're just gettin' started.

First, you still have time to vote for Boppin' (Like The Hip Folks Do) as Best Blog in The Syracuse New TimesBest Of Syracuse '16 Readers Poll.
